The Drama Room: Make. It. Happen.

So, this is not exactly a glorious comeback entry, but it’s the first thing that seemed even remotely share worthy that was not related to work (where on Friday, we had a fund raising talent show OMG I WISH I COULD SHARE THE VIDEO, but I love my job and would like to keep it).  I do intend to get to your Ask Slynnro questions some time before I die, and hopefully before the seasons change as most your questions seem to revolve around seasonal gear for the upcoming heat.

Nonetheless, this is what I’ve got for today.  On Saturday, I went out with some gay friends of mine, which, not shockingly did involve going to gay bars.  I enjoy gay bars for all the reasons you might expect- many compliments, no creepy come ons, good music, and obviously, semi-pornographic photography displays on monitors around the bar.  As we were leaving Gay Bar No. 2 (also known as the Round Up, for those of you in the know about the Dallas Gay Bar Scene), we drove past an establishment called the Drama Room.  I obviously inquired as to what the Drama Room was.  Well!  It turns out the Drama Room is actually a gay go-go dancing bar (or my idea of heaven), where the ceilings are so low the go-go dancers cannot stand erect (sorry, couldn’t help myself there).

I did the only obvious thing one can do here, and checked in on Facebook at the Drama Room, which inspired this exchange:

Now, this…this is a genius idea.  The Drama Room as a concept.

Scenario One:

Girl A:  What is wrong with Stacy?

Girl B:  Her boyfriend broke up with her.  She’s been setting his stuff on fire in a trash can all night.

Girl A:  Girlfriend needs to take that shit to the Drama Room.

Girl B:  Fo sho.

Scenario Two:

Tween A:  OMG.  Have you seen this Facebook fight between Jane and Sarah about cheerleading tryouts?

Tween B:  I know. They need to keep that stuff out of my news feed and into the Drama Room.

So you see, The Drama Room very much needs to become a part of your lexicon.  Make it happen, people.  Make.  It.  Happen.

I Promise, This Blog Ain't Dead.

Sorry, my lack of motivation got the best of me yet again.  But I'm already mentally addressing your post suggestions.  I promise to address them- one specifically will be addressed with a giveaway soon!

Anyway, before I get back to REAL content, I'm going to do this week's exercise post so that I don't get too far behind in that regard.

Sunday- Pure Barre

Monday- Tabata + 15 minute abs

Tuesday- 60 minutes cardio, weights

Wednesday- Off day

Thursday- 30 minutes cardio

Friday- Off day

Saturday- Off day

Sunday-  60 minutes cardio, Pure Barre

This wasn't a great week for me.  I only had one Pure Barre class in 7 days, and I can really feel a difference when I don't do the second class during the week.  The good news is missing a class makes me realize that those classes are no joke.

I'm a little worried about the upcoming week- I have a social obligation almost every night, so I'm really going to have to work to get my exercise in.

How do you balance that on weeks with lots of evening obligations?  I just don't think I can do the morning workouts anymore, since I have to be in my desk in a freaking suit by 8 am!

If You Follow My Advice, One Day This Can Happen to You.

So y'all know how I'm always spoutin' out my skin care advice?  Because I don't want to look old.  Well, Whaddaya know.  IT'S WORKING.  Yes, one day, maybe if you heed my words, you can find yourself on the end of this compliment from the 25 year old new girl you get to train, what with your many years of experience, that you achieved while you were getting OLD:

AND THEN I DIED.

Exercise Recap Week 4.

First of all, thanks for the input below.  Keep the questions coming!

Anyway, week 4.

So my foot was back in action fucking up my week.  It really didn't get better until yesterday, when it made some sort of giant leap towards recovery.  I'm not sure why, as Monday was possibly the WORST foot day since the incident.  But there you go.

So, last week.

Monday- I did Tabata.  I just took 4 Advil and sucked it up.  It hurt like hell afterwards, but during the class, it wasn't bothering me at all.  I continue to LOVE LOVE LOVE this class.

A word on group fitness- as someone who is pretty self motivated when it comes to working out, I've never really been that big of a fan of group classes.  As I've mentioned before, my gym really has an amazing class selection with some really good instructors.  The only other time I've been successful at regularly attending any kind of group fitness class was last year, prior to my wisdom teeth surgery, I got really into kickboxing.  The intsructor at Equinox is my fitness idol.  The class was REALLY hard- way harder than any other kickboxing class I've ever taken, and made a huge improvement in my condition and endurance.  Then, I took a few weeks off because my wisdom tooth surgery really stole my energy for several weeks, and I lost a lot of weight because I wasn't eating very much because eating made my mouth so uncomfortable.  And then I had a hard time getting motivated to go back to the class because I lost so much ground.

I'm so glad to be back in it with Tabata, which is certainly more difficult than kickboxing.  But I so love it.  I really love interval training- it is a lot easier mentally to push yourself when you know that each interval is only 20 seconds, even if it is 20 really effing intense seconds.  I cannot recommend interval training classes enough. Find one today!  I feel so strong after each class, and so proud of myself for pushing through it.  And that I've probably dropped 5-7 lbs since I started doesn't hurt.  I've also lost a LOT of inches, especially in my midsection and behind.  This also is helped by Pure Barre obviously, but without the calorie expenditure at Tabata, the weight loss would not have happened.

Tuesday- Pure Barre

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday- My foot was KILLING ME and I decided to finally take Waxy's (and everyone else's) advice and take 3 days off.

Saturday- 1 hour of cardio and weight training.

Sunday- Pure Barre. I really, truly love Pure Barre.  The class FLIES by, and yet allows me to feel really accomplished at the end.  NORMALLY.  But not on Sunday.  I never realized how much of a difference the instructor makes, but wow.  It's huge.  The teacher for Sunday's class chose horrible music, which sounds silly.  But the beat of the music really assists in keeping count on the reps in the class.  Without that beat, it's really hard to stay on track.  The music was also just plain irritating- dance mix of Dolly Parton 9 to 5?  NO THANKS.  Luckily, Pure Barre shows you the instructor's name when you sign up for class, so I will just avoid her from now on.  I bought a new member special this month, so I'm going to try to take a few more classes.

This week was also weird in that I have really had NO appetite to speak of.  I'm force feeding myself anything that is real food (i.e., not Easter candy, which is all I really want).  I didn't eat any vegetables this week, except for a salad that made me feel ill.  Not sure what this is about, but I can't help but wonder if my body is just pissed off because I went on a bit of a gluten binge last weekend.  Maybe it's just forcing me to clean myself out.  Today is the first day since last Monday that I've had any real appetite.

Anyway, that's what is up this week.  How'd you do?
